Charles E. Washington serves as the Director of Education Services Department at the Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. He has twenty years of experience impacting youth and adult lives through providing educational and training opportunities. He is responsible for all the education and training aspects of OIC which includes High School Equivalency Orientation, Classes and State Testing, Summer Work Opportunities, YOUTHCONNECT (Connecting Youth to the World of Work), Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) Prep Class, Certified Nursing Assistant (NA I) Program, Highway Construction / Carpentry Trades Program, Advance Manufacturing Program and SOAR Re-Entry Program. His future vision is to continue developing educational and training programs that helps our youth and adults become successful, self-sufficient and more competitive in the global economy.

Charles retired from the United States Army after serving twenty years. After completion of his training he was assigned to Fort Ord, California as a telephone installer and switchboard operator. He also spent time in Manheim, Germany and Fort McNair, SE Washington DC. Charles was selected to recruit for the U.S. Army. He attended recruiting school in Indianapolis, Indiana. His first recruiting assignment was Cleveland, Ohio where he worked for ten years as a recruiter, station commander, nurse recruiter station commander and an army guidance counselor.

Finally, he served the last five years of his military service in Raleigh and Rocky Mount, North Carolina where he worked as a station commander and an army guidance counselor.

 I’m the Director of Education Services Department. I have thirty years of experience impacting youth and adult lives through providing educational and training opportunities. My vision for the future is to continue developing educational and training programs that will help our students become self-sufficient and successful.  

 I’m the Education Service Manager with a BA degree in Sociology from North Carolina Central University. I have thirteen years of experience assisting our students in their educational and training achievements. My vision for the future is to assist in growing our educational and training programs that allows our students to become more competitive in the global economy.
